There is no shortage of amazing spots to see when it comes to exploring Jackson Hole! Whether you're just site seeing on your summer trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone or you’re looking to get away for the winter ski season, Jackson offers an array of things to do and places to see. Or in the case of many of our clients, a multitude of options when it comes to finding the perfect spot to pop the question! Admittedly, most of our couples choose something in or near the Grand Teton National Park for their surprise proposal, but there are also some scenic and unique options outside of the park. Most recently we had the opportunity to be a part of Braxton and Maria’s Snake River Ranch Surprise Proposal near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort! We’ve captured proposals all throughout the area, even at the top of the gondola at JHMR, but this would be our first time getting to visit Snake River Ranch! When Braxton explained what they would be doing and what his overall plan was, we were stoked to help bring vision to life! They were going to be on a horse sleigh tour offered through Snake River Experiences and eventually would be brought to an area on the property with an old gray barn where he planned to propose. After discussing all of the logistics and variables, we nailed down a plan for him and Maria.

When the day of finally arrived, it was a perfect blue bird day! We knew from communicating with the staff at Snake River that we would have to be shuttled out to the spot via snow mobile so we had to arrive a few minutes early to get out there and get set up with all of our gear. They snowmobiled us out to the gray barn to get set up and we were blown away by the location! The set up was private and serene. With the exception of the occasional V-12 engine in the distance making it’s way to the 4 seasons, it was also quiet and peaceful. The 1930s built barn stood out amongst the snow covered landscape. The staff also arranged a little charcuterie board for guests on the tour, hot coffee was ready, and plenty of blankets to go along with their fire pit. Throw in some mountain views in the distance and it’s easy to see why this spot was ideal for a secluded surprise proposal in the Jackson area! When the time finally came we saw Braxton and Maria making their way down the trail in the sleigh. We played it off like we were just there doing editorial work for the ranch so they could have updated photos of the barn and space for their website. Before you knew it, Braxton was dropping to a knee and Maria was hitting him with a genuine sweet smile from ear to ear. She said yes, and of course the rest is history! Naturally these two rocked some engagement portraits after and the ranch staff even let us include horses during their session! As a proposal photographer, these are the unique and fun experiences we honestly never dreamed we’d get to be a part of, and the ones that leave you looking forward to the next one! So many congrats to Braxton and Maria on their beautiful engagement and as always, we hope you all enjoy following along!
