bride and groom kissing in front of the grand tetons

Over the years, the concept of what most people would think of when it comes a traditional wedding vs an elopement has seen both shift towards middle ground or what a lot of people in the industry now refer to as a micro wedding.  If you asked our folks what an elopement was you’re like to get answer about running away to Vegas and not telling anyone your getting married.  If you asked most people what a traditional wedding is they would probably describe a large celebration where you invite all of your closest friends and family, and include a a lot of traditional wedding elements like a cake cutting, or traditional parent dances.  As time has gone by (especially in the last few years), more and more couples are opting for a hybrid approach, i.e. the micro wedding.  Imagine if you will some, if not all of the the general happenings you would see a traditional wedding, but scaled down to be more intimate in size.  For a lot of couples this approach gives them the best of both worlds and being someone who shoots them often, we couldn’t agree more!

One of our favorite micro weddings from last fall in Jackson was Katy Lou and Jacob’s intimate celebration!  It started off more like a traditional wedding with getting ready and hanging with family, followed by a beautiful golden hour ceremony at Mormon Row, and an upscale soiree at Il Villaggio Osteria in Teton Village.  Many of the elements of a wedding, but definitely the feel of a destination elopement here in Jackson Hole.  By far our favorite part of their special day was emotion.  From happy tears and love notes to Katy Lou’s infectious smile, her and Jacob were the absolute sweetest!  These two lit up when they saw each other for the first time in front of the Tetons that evening, and the rest was joyful history.  Their chemistry on camera made for an nearly effortless evening and one we can’t help but smile when looking back on.  We hope you’ll feel the same way following along!

Big congrats to Katy Lou and Jacob and thank you guys for letting us be a small part of your big day!
