Colorful and Mountain Elopement in The Grand Tetons
Fall is by far our favorite time of year no matter what side of the country we are on! The weather is perfect, the leaves provide an amazing color pop to the scenery, and it can be a nice reprieve from the heat of summer. It’s also when Kyle and Nick said their I dos in Grand Teton National Park! We connected with these lovelies in true Jackson Hole fashion about a month before their elopement. They were pretty local living in Idaho and as we talked to Kyle we knew it was going to be a fun day! She wanted the beauty of the Tetons in the background, she wanted it to be low-key and laid back. It was all of that and then some! Soon after we nailed down a few favorite spots, all we had to do next was wait.
Kylie and Nick also had one of the best lighting situations we can remember in recent times. Being photographers we nerd out when it comes to the simple things like composition, scenery, and most importantly lighting. With their schedules, Kylie and Nick chose a mid afternoon time for their elopement which can be a bit more challenging for portraiture and weddings due to a handful of factors that we’ll spare you from having to hear about. In general though, for those planning an elopement in the Jackson Hole area, Sunrise is going to front light the mountains and give you a colorful sky right before. Sunset is going to backlit the mountains where they will likely be a little hazy at first, and then you’ll have color after. Mid Afternoon in our opinion is typically when the mountains themselves are going to look the best. Each option while they can all be amazing also have their unique challenges. Then there are those perfect days where the clouds come along and neutralize those challenges. This was one of those days. The mountains were popping amongst the landscape as the shadow and the clouds were in just the right place to diffuse the light on Kylie and Nick. It made for an absolutely beautiful fall day in the park and we that we’re sure will have you swooning as you follow along! Big congrats to Kylie and Nick!
